There is often a shed when either minoxidil or finasteride is started. Other than the shed which tells you the drug will work on your head, there are no negative hair effects
Minoxidil has a different mechanism of action, so combining both is often better than one drug alone.
Is it worth giving up minoxidil before a hair transplant to ensure all new hair isn’t minoxidil-dependent? I only want to have a transplant once in my life, I’d like to avoid going back in a few years once my min-dependent hair has faded. Hair grown with minoxidil requires that you stay on it. I tell […]

Amazing result from these two drug. You should show your hairline pulled back to cement what we are now seeing.
These results show that the apparent miniaturization that was there prior to starting these medications, have reversed.

When fluid builds up inside of the pericardial cavity (the sac around the heart), the heart has difficulty with blood return […]
This is what you can expect from minoxidil which seems to grow hair in your case, beyond just the scalp
I’m about to start taking 2.5mg of oral minoxidil to attempt to thicken my beard. I will be taking this 2.5mg daily for about 1 and half years until beard hairs become terminal. After , they become terminal I will stop the oral minoxidil. Is this a good plan? BTW, I noted shedding on my scalp when […]
Good early response to this combination of finasteride and minoxidil. It would be best if he waited 6 months to show even more dramatic photos. The crown is usually more responsive than other parts of the scalp to such treatment.
Do you have advice for someone who gets water retention in the face even from 1.25 mg oral? I had no other side effects but stopped due to the puffy face. Is there a safe/simple way to mitigate that? Maybe this medication is not for you. Theoretically, swelling can occur in hidden areas of your body, […]
Been on minoxidil 5% only . Haven’t been consistent with the treatment You clearly understand that consistency is critical. Low dose oral minoxidil is better than topical minoxidil as only 40% of men respond to the topical. Oral is also easier.
I do not doubt that this is the result primarily of using microneedling, supported by minoxidil and finasteride. Microneedling can bring out fantastic hair growth, in your case in just 4 months. The question, of course, is when and if to stop the microneedling. I suggest that it should be continued monthly, almost indefinitely, or […]
