Hey all, I am soon going to start using topical minoxidil. The only brand (Linn Minoxidil) I could get a hold of somewhat easily where I live (the Netherlands) is a spray. The manual says to spray six times on the balding spot. But I am a norwood 3.5-4, and hence would like to spray […]

I’m cautious of the microneedling + Minoxidil success stories here only because it might be the case that they were strong responders to Minoxidil irrespective of the microneedling. I’m more interested in those who added microneedling to the protocol after some time on Minoxidil/min+fin alone. Anyone with some post history or experiences? Microneedling will work […]
This is a great result, something I would expect in many men. This man used topical minoxidil and appears to be one of the 40% of men who respond to the topical minoxidil
How often do you see such dramatic improvements using oral min among your patients? Thanks It occurs often. I only started prescribing it a four-five years ago, and I have been more than surprised with the results
Yes, minoxidil has known side effects, and one of them is dangerous. It is called Pericardial Effusion, which means fluid builds up inside the heart sac. As the fluid builds up, blood is restricted from entering the heart. This produces significant swelling of the legs and feet, shortness of breath, and easy fatigue, and if […]
Results like this are seen in men under 25. The older you get, the less likely you will get results like this.
There is little doubt that the microneedling reversed this Norwood Class 7 balding pattern. As for hair cycles, I wonder if he didn’t maintain some microneedling routine and if the new hair will stick around. I believe that microneedling should be maintained at least once a month to hold on to the new hair.
A known side effect of minoxidil is new hair growing in places that it normally didn’t grow before, as shown in this facial photo. If you don’t like it, or if you are a women, then stop the drug and the new hair will go away.
I was using topical minoxidil before but my scalp was itching very much so I switched to oral minoxidil but now my body has started to itch. Itching is a sign of allergy to the drug or the carrier. If you have it with the oral, it is likely an allergy to minoxidil.
I am 41m, using minoxidil and Fin for more than 6 months, and don’t see any improvement in hair loss. I feel like my scalp has recently become more itchy and dry. Especially after applying minoxidil. Should I stop using minoxidil? Did you know that TOPICAL minoxidil doesn’t work in 60% of males? The oral […]
Nothing like sticking to the plan you created!
That is a very impressive result. The microneedling was the key here; once a week, the 1.5mm needles helped it along nicely. The long-term becomes an issue; in other words, what must you do to maintain your final result when you get there? I am almost sure that if you don’t maintain some microneedling, even […]
Minoxidil will have no value to the transplanted hairs. Minoxidil’s has value is in the non-transplanted areas. I performed a study where I had patients apply minoxidil to 1/3rd of the transplanted area (to manage overlap) and then compared both the speed of growth and the thickness of the end result. There was no difference […]
The use of both of these topical medications is effective, as shown here; however, a considerable amount of both of these drugs go systemic. It would be easier to take them orally and then you would know the systemic component of the dosage.
This is a remarkable acceleration of the early effects of topical minoxidil, which shows up in his before picture. Microneedling is most likely responsible for these good early results.
