Setting expectations is as much the ‘art’ of what I do as doing the surgery. That is why I have open house events every month, so that people who are going to have surgery can see and meet someone with a similar balding pattern and hair color and ask them about their experience. It is […]

You can transplant hairs to thinning areas and the hairs will grow. But your miniaturized hairs that are at the end of their life, may fall out as a result of the transplant. But you and your doctor need to discuss the potential for shock hair loss, how to prevent it and its risks versus […]
Was your friend’s name George? Seriously, rubbing one’s scalp should not damage your hair follicles in that one incident. Even if the rubbing pulled out hair, that hair would return. No matter what type of hair you have, it is rather very difficult to permanently damage a hair follicle. I always discuss that people who […]
Thanks for your frank opinions. We have published many comments and some photos of people who have received wonderful benefits from Propecia over the years; however, seemingly just like on the TV news, you mostly only hear the bad news. The good news isn’t reported very often, because bad news sells and grabs the attention […]

All the hairs that grew after a hair transplant are now a permanent part of your own body. It is just like any other non-transplanted hair. It goes trough the same hair cycles, sheds at times, regrows, and will even turn grey over time. Since it has been FOUR years since your hair transplant, I […]

We do not typically recommend minoxidil or Latisse (bimatoprost) following an eyebrow transplant. There is no good clinical evidence behind this, but I do realize many doctors recommend this approach. If there is eyebrow loss and flaking I would definitely discuss these issues with your doctor or a dermatologist.
Rapid, significant weight loss is a known cause of hair loss. It is particularly significant in women who have genetic hair loss in family lines, and these women may not regrow it after the weight loss is stable. If you have no history in the female side of your family of genetic hair loss, then […]
Generally, when I recommend a medical treatment for androgenic alopecia (AGA), I only have two proven medications I can recommend: (1) Rogaine (topical minoxidil), and (2) Propecia (oral finasteride 1mg). While you can start taking both treatments at once, it would be difficult to assess which medication had more or no benefit. So I usually […]

Hair is really important to a lot of men, so you’re not alone. I am sorry you are experiencing hair loss. Unfortunately, hair loss is mainly due to genetic causes and many men in their late teens or 20s will go through what you are going through. There have been cases of initial shedding from […]
Here’s the video: This treatment is for autoimmune disease and there are no studies that show it has value that can be replicated in other patients. Many doctors are offering this treatment for male pattern baldness, but with no proof that it offers better results, I still believe this is just a money-maker for […]
Now sure, the anti-Propecia squad will be quick to post comments about how this is some shill post (just like last time), but get real. The medication works, so it’s unsurprising that some people would want to write in about it. Besides, the amount of negative Propecia posts far outweigh those about positive results, and […]
I would think most of the readers of this site would be shocked to hear you want to go bald. Unfortunately (?) if you don’t have the baldness genes, you’re not going to lose hair from genetics. If shaving is something you are tired of and you want a permanent solution, I am sure you […]
