In my opinion, it does not too much. The theory is that it increases the circulation, but I do not believe that any impact on circulation will last but a few minutes if there is heat generated.

In my personal opinion, lasers do not work to regrow hair. I base this on my experience with seeing many patients who have tried all sorts of lasers (from the big ones in clinics to the handheld models), and I have not seen it work. As I’ve mentioned before, I had a medical grade laser […]
It is common to get more hair on the back of your body as you lose hair on the head… if you are so genetically inclined. Body hair develops as you age, and in some men the DHT effect causes you to lose your scalp hair around that same time. However, even if you used […]
There is no problem with performing laser hair removal at the same time while you are taking Propecia. What the laser does is burns the hair follicle and kills it, but it is not 100% as hairs that are in the telogen phase will not be impacted and the general success rate for the ‘kill’ […]
I have had a number of patients that just want to be bald. I couldn’t say what your personal options are, as every case is different. Electrolysis, for example, has a 50% failure rate per hair and the use of pinpoint lasers are generally not effective here either. Surgery works, but I would have to […]
Just a couple weeks ago, the FDA published a warning letter sent to the makers of the LaserComb (see here). Now, a reader sent in a new find on the FDA website — a warning letter to another laser company that shows they are selling a product or service that is in violation of the […]
From what I gather, Lexington started started selling other models of their Laser Comb that were never cleared by the FDA, and yet they were inferring that they were FDA cleared. My favorite part of that letter states, “These changes could significantly affect the safety or effectiveness of these devices and therefore, pursuant to 21, […]
I’d guess that many have tried, but there were no significant differences. It’s my opinion that these laser combs or brushes don’t really work. In every patient I’ve seen that has used the home lasers, the therapy didn’t work. I also do realize that I probably won’t see any patients that had great results (why […]
At 26 years old with early hair loss, the Propecia would most likely be your best bet (I can’t say for sure without examining you myself and determining the degree of miniaturization in the frontal corners and the crown). The drug does work in the front. I’ve found that it works to halt the hair […]
Spencer Forrest, the makers of Toppik, Couvre, and other masking agents, has entered the home laser market with the X5. The device has been available for months, but now they’re looking for a nod from the FDA with the clinical trial. As regular readers of this site may know, I’m not a fan of this […]
There was much hype about using lasers in the late 1990’s to make incision sites, but lasers are not used anymore in the United States because it burns the skin. Much about lasers is about marketing, not medicine. Also, this might say something about the company doing the procedure — in the week or so […]
I am not a fan of this technology, but the HairMax, Rezultz, and Bosley LaserComb models are all made by the same company — Lexington International. So it is one manufacturer and likely the only difference between each is the logo and the price the reseller charges (all well over the price they’re worth, in […]
You’re right. A rep for Lexington posted in the comments back in March of this year stating, in part — “We are currently drafting a medical review of the study to be submitted to a peer-reviewed journal. We have every intention of publishing the study and making the full results available for public scrutiny.” I’ve […]
Sometimes one can address scars on the back of the head, and I have managed such scars on a few patients. The laser is not a magical instrument and I doubt it would help you with removing the linear hair transplant scar in the donor area unless it was elevated and the laser was used […]
Propecia will not make the hair on your back grow. If anything, there are reports that it can decrease body hair in some men.
