The maturing hairline is as seen here. If the hairline goes up further, then it is most probably genetic balding. The appearance of a mature hairline has nothing to do with male patterned genetic balding and temporal loss doesn’t necessarily indicate future loss.

The hairlines of different races do vary and the mature hairline of an African American is different than a Caucasian. You need to see a good dermatologist to determine if you are now balding or if this is a maturing hairline you’re seeing. I would be happy to evaluate you if you’d like to send […]
I have assembled some photos of Ted Kennedy throughout his political career to reflect your insights… In all three of these photos above, you can see that the shape of the hairline is convex (mature male hairline) rather than concave (which would be a more juvenile or female type). What is notable is that the […]
I’d say that yes, a Norwood Class 1 (see art at right) and a mature hairline are basically the same. The hairline you saw at 12 years old is your childhood hairline and it is completely normal for your hairline to mature to some degree a dozen years later. You can not tell at your […]
Click the photos to enlarge: First of all, thanks for allowing me to publish these. What I believe you’re talking about are the corners of the hairline, not the temples. The temples are below the corners (above the ear), and those look fine in the photos you provided. People seem to get the temples […]
The measurement of the mature hairline is essentially done with a drop string (gravity), from the leading edge of the hairline and to the highest wrinkle of the furrowed brow. Here’s a list of past posts that may help: Measuring the Mature Hairline Wrinkled Brow Measurements for Mature Hairline Maturation of a Hairline — Moving […]
The appearance of the mature hairline may occur over a year or two, or it may take up to 10 years to complete. The key for genetic hair loss is to look for miniaturization beyond the confines of the juvenile hairline.
He’s got a good, strong hairline, but with the way the corners are creeping up a little bit, I’d say this is about where the mature hairline exists. I would want to see him wrinkle his brow to be sure.
Take a look at the Maturation of a Hairline posting and see how this conforms to what is happening to you. If you miniaturize behind the area where the mature hairline is developing, then you have genetic balding. This is a very simple process to undergo and then you will have the insights into your […]
If you are balding, then you will have miniaturization leading to the balding pattern. Look to map out your scalp for miniaturization, especially in the frontal corners. The difference between a maturing hairline and early frontal balding can be difficult to spot. The onset of a maturing hairline usually takes a few years, but I […]
The Norwood class 3 has considerable corner recession and does not reflect the maturing hairline. Please review this guide to the maturing hairline that I wrote about 2 years ago: Juvenile vs Mature Hairline — Am I Going Bald? Hopefully that will clear up any confusion.
I agree that 3cm elevation for the mature hairline from the highest crease of the furrowed brow is high for the mid-line. I use my finger and generally see about one width of my index finger… and I don’t have fat hands. My index finger is 2/3rd of an inch wide. There is no hard […]
A maturing hairline is a generalization of how a young male will have a slight recession of his hairline in his teenage years or early 20’s. If you follow this “rule” (it is actually my rule) then there are three elements of it. A mature male hairline exists when: the middle of the hairline is […]
Do not rush to transplant your frontal hairline. You can just say no! Stop pulling on the hair and get a caring doctor who is not so much interested in your wallet and get one that is more in your welfare. Get a proper examination. If you are just having a loss of the mature […]
You are right on for the mature hairline. My rules aren’t always strict when it comes to the maturing hairline, but I draw conclusions based upon my observations. The 1/2 inch – 2/3rd inch up from the highest crease in the midline and 1 inch – 1 1/2 inches from the sides is a generally […]
