Scalp MicroPigmentation (SMP) may be a good option, but only for certain hair colors and people with specific goals that can be met with this solution. Everyone is different and the goals for some people who will accept the SMP solution may not satisfy others. You must always consider the progressive nature of hair loss […]

We are the first doctors in the United States offering scalp micropigmentation (SMP). The creation of the hairline is fundamental to what we have been doing over the past 20 years, so incorporating this skill is critical to providing a quality service with a natural looking hairline. We are also the pioneers for today’s ”standard […]
There is a risk of allergies to the pigments, which contain metal oxides. While generally rare, the most common allergy is to these metals. All patients are skin tested to the dyes prior to starting the full process, but this only covers short term detectable allergies. According to BMEzine: “It should be noted that allergies […]
This patient came into the office with a widened scar from a hair transplant we did over a year ago. The photo at the lower left is following his second transplant procedure (the first was with another doctor). The widened scar risk increases with each additional procedure. Only the central 2 1/2 inch portion of […]

Hair starting to thin on the crown, it’s not to bad yet as I am taking finasteride & minoxidil. I currently use hair fibres to hide the thinning crown but I am wondering is there any other things I can try to conceal the thinning or is hair fibres the only option? I’m always conscious […]

I’m pretty close if not completely norwood 7+. I realize this severely limits what I can expect from a hair transplant. I am currently 40 years old, and have been balding since 20. So I’ve been on fin and minox on and off throughout the years. I know there’s only so much you can say if […]
I have been getting thinner and thinner. I am a woman age, 34. Any suggestions? Women with progressive thinning require a trichoscopic examination where the doctor magnifies the hairs on the scalp and looks for miniaturization. Some women just develop premature Age Related Thinning where there will be no miniaturized hairs on the scalp. In […]

I felt terribly sorry for the poor man who went to a provider to get Scalp Micropigmentation as shown in these photos. Hopefully, they can be removed with an appropriate laser. Be sure that your provider knows how to do SMP by asking to see a few of his patients.
Retrograde alopecia is found not-infrequently in men who are balding impacting the neck hair and at times the side hair above the ears. There is little that can be done for this as it doesn’t respond to finasteride or minoxidil. This can happen at any age and if someone were to use this hair as […]
