Doc what would you say the success rate of oral minoxidil is? Will it reverse the loss of my widow’s peak? Hair growth occurs with oral minoxidil. This hair growth is not restricted to the scalp and that is the problem for this drug in women who don’t want body or facial hair. The widow’s […]
Is it necessary to discontinue oral minoxidil for a period of time after hair transplant. Someone said I should stop oral fin for 15 days and oral Minox for 3 months after procedure but I don’t think that’s right? Can you clarify please? Thank you Doctor. I generally tell my patients to take minoxidil until […]
Can you tell my why my oral minoxidil protocol is making me grow hair halfway down my forehead but not in my widows peak area towards the middle of my hairline? This is a complication of minoxidil, not a treatment outcome. Also, the widow’s peak rarely is recovered if it is lost as it doesn’t […]
The severe cardiac complications of oral minoxidil are very rare when dosed at 2.5 mg or less. I often prescribe 1/2 pill at a 1.25mg dose. Too many men use high doses of topical minoxidil, which get into the body and can cause cardiac complications.
This is a great result. You are to be congratulated. Stay on the minoxidil to keep the hair.
This man started a heavy shed after starting to take minoxidil and finasteride. This is not uncommon; however, is a dramatic change. I expect the hair he lost before the shed will return over the next few months. He has to stick to the program.
hey dr, your patient that take oral minoxidil do they develop unwanted hair on back- shoulder or upper cheek? thanks Every person responds differently. Some get more body hair, and some don’t.
My dermatologist recommended that I should give oral minoxidil a try now, but I’m concerned about the generalized effect it will have on hair growth. I am generally quite happy with my low body hair level and would like to avoid getting a unibrow and super hairy arms and legs. Could some people share their […]
Congrats! Oral minoxidil had a fantastic result in your hair loss on the top of the head. Your results speak for this tremendous result.
I’ve recently switched from using liquid Minoxidil to the foam version, and I’ve noticed a few differences. The foam leaves my hair less greasy, which is a plus, and it’s also reduced the itchiness on my scalp, which I’m happy about. However, I’ve been wondering if the reduced itchiness means that less Minoxidil is getting […]
This is a fantastic turnaround. I would not have expected this growth in 3 months on finasteride and oral minoxidil alone. I would expect that he will grow more in the next 3-9 months, and he can, if he wishes, take advantage of it and let it grow out. Click to enlarge
I have been on topical for a year and got the approval to switch to oral minoxidil. Should I expect shedding? Anything else? My patients who switched did not report shedding to me, as I advised them to stop taking the topical when they went on the oral minoxidil.
Hi doc, sorry for bothering you but would be thankful for a reply. Do you think there is any credence to the theory that minoxidil causes premature signs of aging in the face? There is no evidence from various research studies to suggest that minoxidil impacts collagen anywhere in the body, including the face.
If you’re a nonresponder to topical minoxidil, are you just clogging your follicles by applying it? Your focus should be on switching to oral minoxidil as 40% of men are nonresponders to topical minoxidil. Clogging your follicles doesn’t happen.
