Rogaine Shedding, Nizoral
Hello, I’ve never used Rogaine, in fear of the “shedding” phase I’d heard about. What exactly is the “shedding” phase, if I may ask.
And will this product cause that? And is there a list of the ingredients anywhere or should I not be asking that? I’m just very curious.
Last but not least question, if this products is discontinued, I am assuming everything on the scalp goes back to “as it was” before, and are there any products that shouldn’t be used, such as Nizoral Shampoo?
Your help is greatly appreciated. Sorry, where can I purchase only the “hair grow” product, not the cleaner etc?
To answer your question about shedding from Rogaine use, please see my past response in “Hair Loss Worse After Rogaine”.
I am not completely sold on Nizoral shampoo, although I do believe that it is a good shampoo. I do not believe it is necessarily good at regrowing hair. There is not enough scientific data to support hair growth claims. You can buy Rogaine over the counter and I doubt that minoxidil (generic form) will ever go off the market. The miniaturized hairs become dependent upon minoxidil when you take it and when it works. If you were to stop the Rogaine (minoxidil) and there was a benefit of it, you will go back to your ‘before’ status, plus losing whatever hair you would have lost prior to starting the medication. This may very well leave you worse off.
Hi Dr. Rassman. I’m 33 and my hairline has been slowly receding over the last 10 years. By slowly, I mean very slowly. I never even gave it much thought until about a year ago.
Within the last 2 months, my hair started shedding without any real reason. I went to my doctor to make sure there wasn’t any serious issue causing the hair loss and all my tests came out negative.
I don’t want to loose my hair and am now considering hair transplants. My question is: when should I get them? Do I need to wait until I’m bald?
Nathan
I have another question.. Thank you for your answers. I went to a dermatologist today. My ferritin level is now 12 was 7. He said that is still very low considering it should be in between 22-200’s. My hairloss is still there including hair everywhere on my body. Hasn’t really slowed down either. Well anyways.. he told me to use rogaine. So if I use it and then when my Iron is up to where it should be, then I stop the rogaine, Will I lose all the hair that I grew after using rogaine? so then Ill be back to the same thinness as when I started the rogaine?
Dr Rassman,
are you really suppose to loose 100 hairs a day?.. how about the other people who doesnt loose any hair? Well the good thing here is that i use to loose 50 hairs a day and now am down to 10 hairs a day but am still not happy, I dont want to loose any hair is that possible?
I’ve been using nizoral ad and it really helps.
Dr McRASSMAN,
I’m losing hair in one eye brow. the other one seems to begetting thicker. I wonder if that has something to do with the fact that I started hair loss.
dr rassman why is your web site continually deleting bad reports on rogaine ,,, minoxidil is a highly dangerous drug,, inwhich not even all is known,, but what we do know about minoxidil is enough to be baned by the FDA,,,rogaine causes a server chemo style hair loss, which is covered up by the marketing dept,,, in my case the hair has grown back,,,
again,, dr rassman i said the hair has never grown back,, pleas quit deleting certain words,,,
I didn’t change any text of your comments, joewill.
I have used Rogaine foam 5% for two months already and have seen some encouraging results. My “bald spot” in the vertex area has filled in a bit. Hoping for even better results in four months. Can anyone tell me if it will be successful on the top of the head?
