I live in the eastern PA area. I want to get this repaired and I figure an FUE session would be worth trying. I’ve tried SMP and it didn’t work well. Is there success with FUE into scar tissue? Are there any experiences both positive and negative that can be shared? I’ve visited a Long […]

I got an FUT 3 years ago. My scar unfortunately is “raised” and wider than expected. I’m not sure if it just healed wrong, or surgeon error. I was originally told my hair would need to be cut to a “5” for it to be unnoticeable, but it takes more like an “8” or “9”. […]
I had SMP done locally in the UK. My expectation was that there would be clearly resolved dots on the fue scars. DO you consider this an adequate result, otherwise I will need to have it done elsewhere. I’ve had to date 5 sessions with the same artist to date, last session completed last month. After each […]
You can do it anytime, once the wounds have healed, at least 3 months is a good starting point: https://scalpmicropigmentation.com/scar-covering/
I love doing Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) because at times, the results are instantaneously amazing as it was today. Leave aside some mild pink color to the area of the scar that was just treated (it will be gone tomorrow), he was blown away by the disappearance of his scar from two hair transplant procedures in […]
For this man’s doctor, each patient was about money, i.e. how much money he could extract from every patient. Many young men fall victims to such doctor behavior as this man did. The doctor told him that the 3000 grafts he was going to perform would not produce any scarring. This man only had a […]
This patient ‘Tom’ started to lose hair 23 years ago. He was followed by me over the past 25 years and kept up with his hair loss as it occurred. His father had a Class 7 pattern of hair loss and like this patient, had a high quality of hair with a very high donor […]
Scarring from FUE is common. If it bothers you, the best treatment is Scalp Micropigmentation. I don’t know how many grafts you received, but if it exceeded 3,500 FUE grafts, it is likely that you were over-harvested. We have performed SMP on many people with all types of donor scars including for FUE, see here: […]
The FUE is not scarless as it will produce some small, punctated scars. If the surgeon uses a small punch instrument, the scars will be small, but with a razor shaved head, the scars will show. We have performed SMP for patients with FUE or strip scars. Many of these people can now shave their […]
The scarring is related to the size of the instrument used by your doctor. When the punch is 0.9mm or less, the scars are less prominent. If you have scars as some people do, regardless of the surgical technique, then Scalp Micropigmentation is a solution to “wipe” them out visually. We do this all of the […]
Yes, you can remove the “bad” pigment by using a proper pigment that will not turn bright blue if the scar still shows. Another option is the Q-Switch laser – it removes the blue pigment and will not go deep enough to kill the hairs around the scar.
The patient above had both strip and FUE surgery. He had scars from both procedures. We performed Scalp Micropigmentation in the morning, and this is what he looked like just 6 hours later. The pinkness in the repair will resolve within a day.
If you try filling in FUE scars with more hair transplants from the thigh, body, or neck, you will be subject to the limitations of these donor sites. The neck hair is not permanent hair. Additionally, all body hair below the neck has a short growth cycle, and only half of the hairs will be […]
The best treatment for scalp scars is Scalp MicroPigmentation. I have extensively published on this technique and on the website you can see many examples of patients who had this done for scars of all types. Below is a typical example of a patient who had a scalp scar treated with Scalp Micropigmentation and you can […]
Wait at least six months before transplanting a pox scar so that everything is healed before going forward with a hair transplant into the cheek. For a POX scar, Scalp MicroPigmentation is similar and faster with the results and probably much less expensive, see below. The picture shows a thumb size scar which was not transplanted but […]
