I’m 20 years old and I’ve noticed the corners of my hair falling a bit, nothing serious but I plan to keep it that way. As soon as I noticed some unusual hair fall I did immense research and came upon these drugs and decided to pull the trigger. Anyways, I’ve used Finasteride for about […]

You can see my progress on dut in my other post. Visited a dermatologist who prescribed me 2.5mg oral minox (perks of living in los angeles is that doctors take cosmetic concerns seriously) . will be taking it everyday, monitoring blood pressure weekly. Made this post because there isnt much info on oral minox on […]
I’m 30 years old and at the end of my rope. I first got on fin in 2016 after noticing thinning in my crown. Around early 2019, shortly after I turned 29 and started a stressful job, fin stopped working for me. Within four months, I lost an inch off my hairline and almost half […]
This is a very nice reversal of frontal corner recession with dutasteride. He may have had the same result on finasteride.
There is not a relationship between the effectiveness of the drug as a competitive inhibitor and its ability to beat the balding process. I can’t give you statistics as everyone is different.
This is an unusually fast response to finasteride and dutasteride. I suspect that he would have had the same response from either medication alone.
This man started on finasteride for 2 months and then switched to dutasteride. The arrow shows early growth. I suspect that he would have had the same result had he stayed on finasteride. I suspect that the left side will eventually catch up to the growth we see on the right side.
More details keep emerging that address the sexual side effects that have been well documented. Here is another review medical article for those of your who read this. The topical form of the drug finasteride seems to have fewer sexual side effects, but they are still present. https://www.practiceupdate.com/journalscan/39062/2/3?elsca1=emc_enews_daily-digest&elsca2=email&elsca3=practiceupdate_uro&elsca4=urology&elsca5=newsletter&rid=NTYwMzM3MDM4NTkS1&lid=10332481
Dutasteride worked here but I suspect that finasteride would have worked just as well.
The combination of Dutastereide, minoxidil and microneedling shows that the corner thinning (shown by arrows) has lessened with this treatment. These are early results and further benefit can be expected over more time.
There has been a suggestion that sperm counts get depressed by finasteride. We know that this happens with dutasteride and this drug even produces azospermia (no sperm) with sterility in some men. The same may happen with finasteride, but the literature is not clear on it. I have now seen many doctor refuse to write […]
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/10495374/ https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/26636418/ https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4969473/ All three of these research papers discuss the impact on scalp and systemic DHT. Dutasteride reported a low incidence of sexual side effects 1.7% but although this number is thought to be low, if you subtract the placebo group from the sexual side effects group on finasteride it comes out about 2%.
At this point, I doubt Dutasteride would ever be approved for hair loss as the 0.5mg is already generic. Why would a drug company go through expensive trials to get a second indication when the drug is off patent? They would have had to get it approved at the same time as BPH in order […]
I took both finasteride and dutasteride for 5 months and this is what happened to me
This is an important comment because so many young men want to switch from finasteride to Dutasteride– they feel it is stronger, but this is something I recommend against. Too many young men think that Dutasteride will not give them sexual side effects and they are wrong.
