Hi Dr. Rassman, i have a couple of questions. I’ve been on fin for almost 4 years and I think I’m seeing thinning the frontal area if I get a prescription for dutasteride is it likely I will respond to dutasteride? And if I take my last Finasteride pill and then, the next day I […]

Very nice responsive treatment. Keep it up and all of the balding may be gone shortly.
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/28632494/ Conclusion Our findings suggest that long-term dutasteride therapy produces worsening of ED, reduced T levels and increased glucose, HbA1c and alters lipid profiles, suggesting induced imbalance in metabolic function. We strongly recommend that physicians discuss with their patients these potential serious adverse effects of long-term dutasteride therapy prior to instituting this form of treatment.
Here So many of my young readers have been altering their doses of dutasteride, finasteride and minoxidil (above or below what is recommended by their doctors) so here is a good article that compares them with reports of hair growth tied to the drug and the dose.
Female taking dutasteride for thinning hair over a 6 month period of time. Young women who getting pregnant while on dutasteride will condemn their baby with physical sexual identification problems.
It’s expensive when compared to the oral pills. Dutasteride is not FDA cleared for hair loss so doctors don’t write the Rx for it very often. Topical finasteride in the liposomal form costs around $70/month. The finasteride pill from Costco costs about $27/year. Big difference
If it is not approved in the US, doctors will not write an Rx for medical-legal reasons. For example, if someone gets post-dutasteride syndrome, then there is no legal protection for the doctor for legal action taken by the patient.
I had sexual side effects on finasteride and my dermatologist told me to switch to dutasteride, does this make sense? If your sexual side effects on finasteride are real, then it would be the same on dutasteride
I don’t have experience with dutasteride but as I know it is about 15% more effective, that means that there must be 15% more side effects, logically
It will take much longer because the half life of dutasteride is 5 – 6 weeks, compared to finasteride which is 6 hours. My guess would be possibly 3-6 months or so.
I have never heard any connection between back pain and finasteride. Switching to dutasteride doesn’t make sense if the finasteride is working for you
Neither dutasteride nor finasteride can grow hair as predictably without microneedling
How long do I have to wait to see the benefits of dutasteride and finasteride, both taken daily? Sometimes these medications don’t work. It takes a full year to see benefits. Taking both dutasteride and finasteride just increases your potential side effects. Twice a week dutasteride is fine by itself. Check with your doctor
Great results from a combination of oral minoxidil, dutasteride daily dose of 0.5mg and microneedling
