This is not an endorsement of the laser technology, just a video that some of you may find interesting and useful. No, I did not make this. The video was made by prolific Metacafe.com video blogger KipKay. For info on the HairMax LaserComb (the commercial product that sells for around $350 more), you can read […]

I am not sure about the implication of clearance or approval but it seems to be more of a semantic problem. The FDA has approved / cleared the use of the laser for the purpose of hair growth, but I believe it was approved because the laser has been shown to be safe in predicate […]
I see no problem with Rogaine and using the LaserComb, but I doubt that the laser will bring much value. Minoxidil might help and may add value if used with Propecia (if you do have male pattern baldness). With regard to the LaserComb, I really don’t believe the results that are claimed.
Our understanding of the role of lasers in hair growth and hair restoration has not been changed much in the last two years. There has not been sophisticated research published in a peer reviewed journal on the effect of this particular type of laser on hair growth as of yet. When and if such information […]
I would have expected the results you reported. Look up the other products here on this site (use the search box in the top right) and you may see similar predictions. Why not do it the right way and get your hair mapped out for miniaturization and then get a competent doctor to make the […]
I do not know the answer to that question. My personal opinion is that it probably will not thicken hair.
Update: The video is gone now, but here’s the story — Gooch hair adverts ‘misleading’ The BBC aired a watchdog report about a laser hair treatment center in the UK, called Advanced Hair Studio. This is a very well made 10 minute long report and well worth watching.
As of right now I am open and hopeful that LLLT will show the benefits that are proclaimed, although I am not 100% convinced about them. There are some encouraging studies from a well respected researcher who supports LLLT in concept. I can not comment much about this subject until I have more data and […]
If there is a benefit of the laser, it will not be permanent. Remember, hair loss is a progressive process and nothing stops the progressive nature of the process for any long time frame. Sorry to disappoint you.
Any time you want to see results of anything that you use for hair growth, it takes a good 8 months of treatment to see the results. I know that the people who manufacture this product suggest that you get results in 90 days, but that claim is what I find unbelievable, not that there […]
Good luck with the treatments. I would be interested in being copied on the pictures and would offer to post them on BaldingBlog as a source for passing along what you learn.
I am not sure if you are stating that you are seeing a benefit, even though your hair is falling out. If it is working for you, I am happy for you. If you can achieve the same (or better) thickening result from a product like Toppik, wouldn’t that be a cheaper solution? I know […]
I have two stationary top-of-the-line lasers in my Los Angeles office. I offer it to my patients (those that have had surgery with me) at no charge.
I’m still getting emails requesting more information and insights about the HairMax LaserComb, but unfortunately, I really have nothing more to add to what I’ve already said about it in the past (see various posts here). I scoured the depths of the interweb for more to give you, and came up with 2 new links: […]
As I’ve said, the medical field is often referred to as the “practice” of medicine and not “science” of medicine. Thus, sometimes doctors do not know why certain treatments work and sometimes they are wrong in prescribing a treatment. With respect to lasers, you can approach it from either a scientific perspective or a capitalistic […]
